The National Water Hygiene (‘Blue Card’) scheme plays a vital part in ensuring the protection of public health and promoting good water hygiene practices across the UK. Developed in collaboration with all UK water companies, this half-day training is the essential requirement for accessing and working on the clean water network.

This course can be delivered remotely via Zoom (e-Classroom) or through traditional face-to-face classroom delivery, ensuring flexibility for all learners.

Who Must Attend?

All UK water companies require individuals entering clean water sites or working on the clean water network—known as ‘Restricted Operations’—to hold a National Water Hygiene EUSR registration.

This scheme is mandatory for both water company employees and contractors, including those from Self-Lay Organisations (SLOs).

‘Restricted Operations’ include working on:

Service reservoirs, water pumping stations, water treatment works.
Wells, springs, boreholes.
The network of water mains and service pipes.
